Inclusion. Hasn’t worked in UK schools. It was suggested that “every child has the right to a mainstream education”, but this was the ‘spin’ the government were looking for on the back of the Warnock report (I think). 1978… yes it was a Tory government.

TL;DR Many UK educational units that were set up for pupils with ‘high support needs’ (the expensive stuff) were closed down, because cost cutting! All those pupils were shovelled into ‘mainstream’ which was already under-funded and badly provided for. This meant THEY were not funded and badly provided for, just like everyone else! Currently, 40 odd years later it’s a mess. Many schools are not geared up to manage a diverse range of learners, even 4 decades down the road. There are educational environments that specifically cater to a range of differing needs so that everyone can access learning suitable to their wants, needs, level and all that. But they are few and far between.

Education needs more money, more respect, everything. Not fashionable and doesn’t win votes though.
