Are you allowed to carry over PTO hours? I might just be a pessimist, but my immediate thought is if they ever have to let anybody go, they don’t want to pay-out accrued PTO hours.

At my previous place, there was one employee that NEVER took PTO for some insane reason. Had saved up like 2 months of PTO.

He was told by HR he had too many hours and needed to use some PTO time. This specific scenario is not unheard of.

However, a month or so after he came back from a month and a half of PTO, he got laid off for reasons unknown to me.

Rumors are they didn’t want to pay-out the PTO.

Honestly it doesn’t make sense, they had to pay him for the PTO anyways, but when has HR made sense?

The child isn’t born yet and he’s dishing out dad jokes?

Either it’s not his wife’s first child or he’s a premature dad and he should go to the hospital to be monitored until the child is delivered. There is a chance he obtained dad power without being a dad yet. Premature dad puns are too concentrated and are hard to control; they is a danger to himself and those around them.

Please post again for more unsolicited medical advice.

  • I honestly think there’s a gray area here and it’s worth talking to a lawyer if anything. There are certainly some protections for peoples under 40. Being denied a promotion because you’re “too young” is certainly a protection. The catch is you have to prove it.

This case is easy to prove though if there are any laws over this.

Edit: but now that I think about it, this is only really a protection if you’re already hired at the place. If you just slam the door on people before they can get in, discrimination seems to be legal.

  • It goes deeper than that. On some of those keyboards, you’ll see that there aren’t even number keys and other somewhat common keys such as ()$&! And more.

These types of keyboards are almost always programmable. If you’re familiar with the FN key, then these keyboards have more advanced FN keys.

Press one programmed FN key, the entire keyboard might turn into a functional number pad. Press a different programmed FN key, asdfghj might turn into F1 F2 F3 etc. Press another programmed FN key, you can control media playback, control your mouse, and maybe even have a few macros!

These keyboards are ortholinear keyboards, that’s what this grid layout is. The firmware to achieve this level of customization is called QMK. It’s not just ortholinear keyboards that have QMK ☺️.
