I found the original study in the article, it’s in German. Here it is (Linux Gaming: Test Results and Conclusion), it looks like most Linux distros have worse lows and frame times than Windows 11, other than Arch Linux which seems to be a tossup.

Repealing that act should be one of the largest priorities of leftists in the United States. I wish people talked about it more.
I’m glad to hear it, this will make the mobile version much more usable.
It seems like a difficult thing to regulate. I hope that this can be a starting point that will be potentially expanded later as needed, but we’ll see.
What’s currently happening is that advertisers are pulling their ads from X/Twitter because Elon replied “This is the full truth” to a neonazi posting the Jewish question. I think if this is censorship, it’s a form I agree with. What advertiser wants to be associated with nazis?
I would be inclined to agree with you if they didn’t get rid of Premium Light. I think charging users for avoiding ads is completely reasonable, we live in a Capitalist country and video hosting isn’t cheap. Even still, axing Premium Light shows a desire to screw over users in order to achieve more profit, which in my mind makes YouTube scummy.
Yes. Making videos is a job and the creators need money to eat and remain housed, it’s reasonable for them to want to be compensated for their work.
It also shows how detached some of these billionaires really are. A VR system is not yet affordable for the majority of Americans, and the technology has much more development to do before it’s as widespread as video game consoles, never mind PCs.
I completely agree. I’m personally holding off on heavy promotion of this platform until we hit 1.0. If people join too early and are turned off by the lack of polish, they may not come back after it’s fixed.
The company said that it will still have opt-out controls in “select countries” without specifying which ones.
I’m guessing that’s how they plan to get around that. They will leave the toggle enabled for people registered in EU countries, and disable it everywhere else. A fairly risky way to handle it in my opinion.
This is completely unsurprising. Under the new "free speech" regime, X has been completely deluged with antisemitic, pro-Russia, and anti-democracy propaganda. It's no wonder that advertisers don't want to be associated with that type of content.
It truly is disgusting that they’ve made this model. Tinder has always been severely flawed in my opinion, but this makes it several times worse.
Mastadon (and the Fediverse in general, to some extent) has problems with discoverability and the average user finds federation confusing. People tend to either use microblogging to see what’s going on with people they’re interested in or to broadcast their activities to a large group of people, and Mastadon currently doesn’t fit that niche very well.
Yeah, our elections suck. They should be more open and should be ranked choice. Likewise, the Electoral College is complete bullshit. Even still, Xi is a dictator and China is not a democracy. Multiple things can be true.
Most dictators haven’t gone by that term, preferring instead some other executive role like chairman, supreme leader, or president. If Xi doesn’t want to be called a dictator, maybe China should start holding open elections, see how popular the CCP really is.
That genuinely reads like satire. What an awful corporate model, extracting every penny out of the workers and consumers to force that line to keep going up.
I think the idea behind this is to spend your entire life alternating between periods of work and retirement. It’s definitely an idea I could get behind, though society now is not built for it.
I’m glad to see lab-grown meat clear another hurdle. The better and more common this technology is, the closer we’ll be to finally getting rid of the meat industry and factory farming.
Sort of. From what I’ve heard DDG can set up a tracking blocker that will block tracking attempts across your entire phone, but I don’t know exactly how it works.
They were using Proton, so most likely X11 as their windowing system. I’m guessing they were using the default distro kernels as of November 15, 2023 (when they ran the benchmark), but I don’t think the article said for sure.
