They tend to hire a lot of recent graduates, at least when I was there. People that simply don’t know better.

Amazon is kinda known for burn and churn. They like have the appearance of a good place to work by not having a dress code, letting people bring dogs in, and being the kind of place that has beer on tap. None of it is worth the burnout though
Yup. Sorry if it came across as me defending the bill. It is trash. We need actual data protections
I don’t think you’re saying it is not, but I want to add that all social media is bad for kids. This bill targets a Chinese company, but all big social media companies collect and sell user data to an alarming degree. We don’t need a TikTok ban, we need data protections.
There really isn’t a single hand writing in the US. I have not seen anyone write like the images, and mine is very different. I assume it is like in most countries that use the Latin alphabet
Good! Not all companies do that and I highly doubt school districts in most places will. They tend to be underfunded and understaffed
Yes. There are tons of enterprise tools to lock devices to certain activities. Surveillance is not necessary and will be used to violate privacy, and I am not talking about just on device communication. Remember when companies were caught using their employees cameras without any indication on the device? The suspected benefits of surveillance is not worth the potential harm.
Beehaw is really my only social media unless you count personal discord servers, so not a result of doom scrolling in my case. I have just seen what hyper capitalism does to new tech (looking at you, AI). But yeah, good point, in this case labor displacement is more of a concern. The article mentions requiring servers still, so that is what brought to mind the Amazon grocery stores.
Gods, I wish we lived in the kind of society where when I see something like robot servers I could simply say, “That is cool.” Unfortunately thanks to the capitalist hellscape we are in, my reaction is “How are they going to exploit people to make this work.” Like how the Amazon grab and go grocery stores turned out to be just people being paid super low wages
They are the same people most of the time. The freeze peach folks only believe in free speech for themselves
OK.
CW: lots of blood and photos of dead folks

Nobody was angry. Also, words have multiple uses. Just because it was used in Pulp Fiction in the BDSM context does not mean it doesn’t carry the ableist definition.
That is probably where they got it, but the word definitely had multiple uses at the time. It may not have been explicitly ableist, but it is and was an ableist word. It also invalidates their claim that they are trying to reclaim usage. Again, they named it that because they thought it was funny, not some grand scheme.
I think they are leaving out the part where they called it “The GIMP” in the 90s. They clearly chose the name to be edgy, and they are now trying to justify it after the fact. Complaining about the “sterilization” of language is just out of touch and leaves out the fact that if they stopped using the word, it might just completely fall out of use.
No it is not. I am literally a non-binary person telling you it is not. I am also not a guy.
Still not a dude
Not a dude.
Dryers with vents are very much still the norm around here, and I am not even in the middle of nowhere (unless you consider Seattle the middle of nowhere). Hell, gas dryers are not uncommon.
Ventless dryers are great, but they also cost twice as much as vented dryers. Most folks I know who live in apartments don’t have that much extra cash. Meanwhile vented dryers can be found on craigslist for free very frequently
At least in the US, hookups are a big issue. You can hook the inlet up to a faucet sometimes, but the drain needs somewhere to go. Most dryers need a vent to the outside too, so that has to exist. I have never seen a lease that would let you add hookups either
Hookups for one, you need a inlet and drain for the washer and a vent for the dryer. A place to put it as well. They are big and bulky. You can get ventless combo machines, but still have the issue of water hookups and space.
I may be under thinking this, but couldn’t you just schedule an email to be sent on that date using whichever email provider/client you use?
