This is my answer. When things seem to be going well, something bad is about to happen

I use it now quite a bit. And I’ve been subscribing more. Before I fell down the jjk rabbit hole, I hadn’t realized how mamy creators were being suggested that I’d never hit follow on, but would watch often.

I had to clear my history because all I was getting was jujutsu kaisen and none of my subscription stuff was coming through.

I feel this way about music too. Not just pirated tunes, but copyright takedowns on shorts and in yt vids

Finding new artists as a fan is hard enough. If someone has reposted your music video as their own, sure I get it.

But a minute clip or less? Fans or haters talking about it? Let that thing fly free baby! I’ve found so much new music that was background music. I use the family Spotify account or buy merch more than I buy music these days to support.

I’ve bought so many books from authors that became my favs after they did a free epub once that got my attention.

There’s always the “do this thing free for the exposure” problem - but people who say that are usually trying to exploit artists for their own gain. Fans are different, they are grass roots and not trying to exploit, but trying to recruit.

I’m 52 and going through what feels like a 2nd fucking puberty. I’m feeling creative again, but this time with panic attacks, and enough experience to own the Art of Procrastination to a level that matches Gojo’s Limitless. I’m dodging that shit like it’s effortless until the last possible moment and then crush it. So far.

I have so, so much to worry about, I’ve shorted out. My brain is simply in denial so I will probably have a sleep paralysis panic attack again soon.

At least there’s some good stuff too and I’m clinging to that. And my hyperfocusing/fixation on stuff has come in handy, even when using to avoid other things.

Another reply acting like this is a dumb thing to remind people. Maybe I’m dumb too.

But we used to have a fan that blew air across the bed. Husband loved it, I hated the feeling of air moving across me and would be buried under blankets to avoid it.

After a medical procedure he was sleeping in a recliner for a few weeks while he healed.

I adjusted the fan and ceiling fan so they move air around the whole room, just not directly across the bed. I can sleep without barriers for air tickles, we get the white noise benefit, and the room feela cooler. It works for him too this way when he’s in there and keeps him cool enough (I’ve asked)

Before that I had just assumed you had to be directly in front of a fan to get the benefits, especially when it’s too hot outside for the AC to work effectively.

One thing I’ve learned is that “committed to donate” does not equal “has actually transferred and paid the actual money”

So it’s just a headline to try and drum up other donations until the receipts are made.

JP’s tweet heavily implied he would react violently or argue with someone to their face if they say “cis” to him. The response implies JP would, in fact, do neither. JP would instead scurry off with maybe a mean glance and then whine for an hour from the safety of his podcast.

The response to JP is making fun of false bravado, toxicity, and whatever the word is for people that take everything as a personal insult - even a simple fact that JP is a cis man.

Granted, some people can deliver obvious facts in a tone that can draw blood. And some facts do cut into insecurities really deep.

But JP, based on his rhetoric should not be hurt or insulted by being cis. He is instead angry about people existing that are trans and threatening violence over a word.

So no, I don’t think this is mocking men having or showing real feelings. It’s mocking the talk-tough toxicity that gets pushed to cover genuine emotions.

Ha, one should always be aware of the risks.

But also, VLC crashes a lot for me lately, so was hoping this was a joke that the next version would be more stable and the kinks would be worked out.

Love this! Did you start out on the Fediverse or did you start on another and then move to your own?

I ask because I’ve been considering hosting my own for the family. I already have a server.

The thing holding me back is I’ve gotten my Mastodon and Lemmy accounts really nice with content and it’s daunting to think of moving/remaking accounts.

In my city/county, you get a free card if you can prove you live here (show something with your address) Our system will also do fundraisers to supplement the budget from taxes. We almost lost some libraries a gew years ago, but voters remade the local government and they are safer now.
