This makes me curious. There have to be sci fi stories out there where instead of cryostasis, people are just moved really fast or put in high gravity environments to make time move slower for them

Yeah we are on the precipice of a massive bubble about to burst because, like the dot com bubble magic promises are being made by and to people who don’t understand the tech as if it is some magic that will net incredible profits just by pursuing it. LLMs have great applications in specific things, but they are being thrown in every direction to see where they will stick and the magic payoff will come
I think the idea is that every company is dumping money into LLMs and no other form of alternative AI development to the point that all AI research is LLM based and therefore to investors and those involved, it’s effectively the only only avenue to AGI, though that’s likely not true
Right and all the dogs in the race are now focused on neural networks and llms, which means for now, all the effort could be focused on a dead end. Because of the way capitalism is driving AI research, other avenues of AI research have almost effectively halted, so it will take the current AI bubble to pop before alternative research ramps up again

Agreed, but any admin or mod ever posting will have that tag next to their name. The deliberate act was making their comment distinguished and using their power in their own interests. I’m merely pointing out that calling out an admin or mod tag in the UI has nothing to do with the admin abusing power, and in fact is probably better considering you immediately know said user is an admin and using their power to support their own views rather than purely as an admin trying to ensure the rules are followed.
We should call out the shield icon as a deliberate act but afaik admins or moderators always have a tag if they are part of said groups next to their name in the default lemmy UI, so if that’s a concern it should be raised with the lemmy dev team, not specifically lemmy.world
Edit: specifically the mod/admin tag thing has already been an open issue for over a year, so it’s certainly a lemmy UI dev discussion
