No, they’re in c/vegan
No, they’re in c/vegan
Because those are normal people. “Lifestyle” communities on the internet invariably devolve into groupthink cesspits of the most unhinged followers of that lifestyle.
Veganism is the worst. It’s like the terminally online crazies can telepathically detect anyone discussing veganism and descend en-mass.
How dare people cope with something horrible by making jokes. Everyone knows it’s impossible to make those jokes while simultaneously being horrified by and pushing back against the thing they’re joking about.
Step 1: Say “I have it for situations like this.”
Step 2: Adamantly refuse to let them use it. If it’s something that has to get done tell them to get the fuck out of the way and do it yourself.
Getting older, with an established career makes spontaneity harder as it is. Add kids to the mix and it’s pretty much impossible.
I … don’t want that. I like making last minutes plans, 1-2 week long trips, etc. The most limiting factor for me is dropping off my cat at one of my many friends/family members that can watch it (and I reciprocate with their pets).
If I’m going to date it’s going to be with someone with a compatible lifestyle.
They instance they’re on automatically censors certain words the admins consider slurs. “Bitch” is one of them.
“Computer” is literally anything that performs computations – it even used to be a job title.
“Mechanical Computers” were almost exclusively limited in what they could compute.
I tried searching for “BSD memes” but all the results are for some cartoon by the same name.

Because at some point society decided to call them refrigerators or AC. The thing *inside the refrigerator or air conditioner" that makes it work is called a “heat pump” – that’s the unambiguous name of the device. Just like the bit inside a car that provides motive force is called the “engine” or the “motor”.
The device that uses a heat pump to both heat and cool a building is actually called an Air source heat pump, but since that’s a mouthful most people simply call it a “heat pump” to distinguish it from traditional AC that only works to cool an area. Sure, maybe you get that odd area the calls it something different (my region calls soft drinks “pop”) but that’s not the norm.
I’ve had good beer and crappy beer in Germany: the same as the USA.
Turns out the idea that “small breweries generally make good beer, and industrial breweries make garbage” tends to be true worldwide.
Various other things like leaves, rags, sponges, or leftover paper. Failing that a bare hand works: manners dictating you wash it after.
Some cultural hangups on the left hand being “unclean” stem from those cultures using that hand for hygienic reasons.
“Quantum immortality” is magical thinking for people that aren’t comfortable with their own mortality. It’s functionally no different than belief in an afterlife.
I prefer “living a dream”.
Am I living someone else’s dream? Is it a nightmare? Am I disassociating? – the answer is “yes”.
I’m a 7 minute drive from downtown and my options are satellite, cellular, or fixed wireless. Everyone around me has gigabit ethernet, but due to costs involved in running fiber and the fact my little community is mostly old folks (and thus likely not going to buy in) ISPs don’t want to “invest” in us.
Before any tankies claim the word is a blanket slur against communists: “tankie” was coined by British communists that were disgusted by the attitudes of some of their so-called “fellows”.
It’s a great question that reinforces critical thinking.
Having the tools is one thing, learning to apply them correctly to a problem is another.

Huh, they actually do:
And Matt Monson — who moved from the Dragon project to SpaceX’s satellite internet service Starlink — posted that Starlink uses a lot of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), and that they too have a lot of experience with Linux. “For some level of scope on Starlink, each launch of 60 satellites contains more than 4,000 Linux computers. The constellation has more than 30,000 Linux nodes (and more than 6,000 microcontrollers) in space right now.

Introduce a character that’s a teacher so sick of cellphones in their class they bought a jammer off the internet. Make that character the serial killer’s first victim.
