Damn, that’s disappointing at a quick scan. Will read in properly and fact check later. Thanks.
Got any stats on coal increasing to share ? Last I saw they were decomming significant quantities of coal stations
They have also been installing solar powerplants at a lightning rate. They installed more solar in 2023 than the US has in total according to an article I read a few months ago.
It’s not about saving the planet though, they import the bulk of their fossil fuels, moving to renewables reduces their fuel import dependency
You don’t need to give the VM network access to download the software if you have a linux host. You can directly mount a virtual box drive from the host, copy the file(s) onto the drive and then unmount it and start the VM as per normal.
Search for qemu-nbd iirc (network block device) - I have the how to details saved on my host (ie not on me) so ping me if you want them. Note it’s a qemu app that works for vbox
Given the entire governance structure of the BBC and many of the senior managers have been stacked with Tory cronies over the last decade I don’t think that’s still true.
Could be worth asking on selfhosted (how do I link a sub on lemmy ?) They probably have more relevant experience at this sort of thing.
Edit
Does this work ?
This post crashes me if I scroll down
Thank you
What is the difference between type 1 & 2 please ?
Popular support rarely changes anything. Money talks to power, people talk to themselves
Lol. Yeah that was my reaction to the headline as well. “You did what ?”
Https://1ft.io also seems to work and by the branding seems unrelated to 12ft
Definitely on there
You’re correct. /boot is the location for grub.cfg for a vanilla manjaro install and a grub using arch install
Have you checked in the bios to see if you can turn it off ?
PIA were taken over by a very dodgy company a couple of years ago, I don’t recommend people use them.

Would depend on the distro. Mint keeps a few older kernels and puts an option in grub to choose them. Debian family doesnt do rolling release in the same way as arch so it’s a different paradigm
Just a suggestion, I always have both the latest and LTS versions installed concurrently. Have the current version as what boots and pacman will update both when you -Syu.
Then if you have any problems just boot the LTS. Grub automatically offers it in the advanced menu or you can manually point to it
For me this falls in the category of “sit back and eat popcorn”. Both sides are arseholes I don’t mind which loses, in fact it’s a shame they all can’t lose
