Especially against multi-billion dollar corporate weapons manufacturers with government contracts that keep them running our civilization into the ground via a freight train on the moon.

Isn’t this just a research grant? Plus, it’s like, 11 million dollars. That’s a shitton of money, but also an inconsequential amount of money when compared to the dogfuck tire fire that is the US healthcare system.

Like, I am regularly filled with rage at the stupid ways the US and various states waste money that could have paid for meals, houses, or hospital beds. I hate how we don’t take care of people who need help. I hate that we all have to live in a place where rage like this is normal and accepted and reinforced, because it means we’re all suffering under so much shit and all we can do is get angry. This video just makes me feel sad because it looks like a trauma response. I can empathize with and try to understand trauma, but I can’t encourage it.

I just don’t think a concept study for a train on the moon is the cause for our problems. I don’t think it even represents the cause for our problems, because at least it’s trying to look forward and consider/solve issues that humans will eventually face.

I filled out a form wrong so now I just don’t have health insurance until I can re-enroll in the fall. Hope I don’t get sick until then! Also my car’s airbag just malfunctioned, I’m driving very carefully lol.

Whitey on the moon is certainly a vivid slap to the face, but it isn’t the real cause of sister Nell’s rat bite (Google Gil Scott Heron whitey on the moon if you dont get the reference. It’s seriously awesome and on point and should be required listening in high school)

The most recent big kicks to the teeth were the 2trillion in tax breaks handed to corporations a few years back and the flood of Insurance company money into politics. Insurance corporations have ruined healthcare and made medical debt a leading cause of homelessness. Political donations have made sure the government doesnt do anything about it.

The 2 trillion in corporate tax breaks have obliterated funding to public health, rehab and job placement services as well as eliminating millions of jobs in the public services sector. These spur economic growth

Moon shit is arguably what made microchips, solar panels and thousands of other inventions that seriously funded a great deal of economic growth, getting thousands out of poverty, while simutaneously maintaining our leading military edge and bankrupting Russia’s warchest without murdering millions of people.

We should focus our opposition on corporate tax breaks and political bribes, not on the miniscule programs that actually do create some jobs… Also, China is making moves to occupy the moon, including the dak side of it. The moon is the ultimate high ground

including the dak side of it.

I assume you mean dark- but there is no dark side, the moon rotates with respect to the sun as it goes around the earth, so it has a day / night cycle of about a month.

The side of the moon not facing earth is what I meant. Not actually sure if thats a correct phrase at all TBH. °far side* is probably a better phrase.

And how is any of that the fault of spending paltry amounts of research budgets on research grants? Has the space industry been lobbying against healthcare reform? No.

It’s not. I want space trains! Just maybe not for the rich which isn’t being proposed. Just saying US healthcare sucks.

Anyone remember that scene in the beginning of Interstellar where the teacher is reporting to the dad that his daughter was spreading lies that man landed on the moon? It’s supposed to highlight how society has grown so jaded against space exploration that they no longer remember their past accomplishments or the massive advances of technology that space exploration has brought.

I feel like that’s where we’re heading. In the past decade, many people have become really antagonistic about space. They see big numbers and think it’s a waste of money, failing to understand that the money isn’t being thrown in a pit and set on fire. It’s being used to pay and fund cutting edge research and development on technology that can benefit all of humanity.

Some shitposts write themselves. Putting a train on the moon sure is an expensive shitpost but I’m glad we’re generating a lot of value for the shareholders.
